Because You Matter, Too!

The birth of compassion leads us on journeys of selflessness and hopefulness. A need, a practical need, clearly exposed thrusts the observer into a critical decision.... and action.

At times we absorb an injustice so great that we act with a simple acknowledgement. Other times these, seemingly unchangeable, tasks unleash our inner advocacy and compassion. Such is the case when I recognized the tremendous number of marginalized children in Thailand falling into the pits of poverty, illiteracy and hopelessness.

I did not stop at acknowledging an injustice. Countless hours of research deepened my desire to make a difference. Given your connection through GlobalGiving to make a difference in our world, I do not hesitate to assume you have experienced similar situations. Thank you! Because they matter to you and YOU MATTER to them!

So, what's been happening to prevent trafficking of Thai children? MUCH! Since establishing the first family resource center in Thailand, 233 children have received nutritional, wellness and educational support. More than 90,000 hours of tutoring during the after school and day camp programs have effectively improved comprehension. Test scores are higher. Children are desiring to read. Access to computers and a staff desiring to provide essential skill training have established much more than a bit of knowledge... it has build the confidence and hope of children and parents. Grateful parents and guardians have gained understanding of the impact. In their despair they didn't allow themselves to dream a different outcome for their children. They understand, too, that YOU MATTER!

The staff who have grown in understanding and compassion for the vulnerable have greater assurance knowing you support their selfless work. They know it works because of you; YOU MATTER!

May this season of your life find great encouragement as reflections of making a difference remind you that YOU MATTER!

Kindest regards and blessings,

Angie
