Covid-19 & Preventing Homelessness for Veterans

What would most of us do without a roof over our head, or without a place to sleep?  Belonging somewhere is so very important - to all of us.  We need our place, the people we love, the street we live on, or at the very least somewhere to sleep.

The most important fundamental - a roof over our head, a sofa to call our own; a friend to lend a helping hand a car to sleep in....  Helping prevent people having to live on the streets is what we do, day in and day out.

Despite all the work we do, and all the money being invested in housing we are still contacted daily by those who are terrified of losing their 'home' due to divorce, illness, late payments, debt or ill health.  9 times out of 10 we are able to help immediately; but sometimes they leave it too late or are too ill to stay in their home in which case we help with a 'stay of execution' or pay for a B&B to stay in whilst we support each person through the complexities of getting a roof over their head.

Veteran S stated “I’m grateful for the time that you have given to me and unsure of what I could have done without getting more into debt or even homeless.”

Without the support and Information provided by FirstLight Trust, Veteran G would have spiraled into more debt which could have resulted in them being homeless.

Homelessness can happen so fast - the funds and donations that you provide help prevent this.  We cannot do this work without your help.  Quite simply the more funds and donations we raise the more we can do to prevent homelessness and keep those who have given so much to keep us safe, off the streets and in a stable home.
