Vaccinate Children and Prevent NINE Diseases

In Mali the rainy season has just ended. The rainy season is one of the worst times for diseases -- such as Malaria -- in Western Africa. 

But the Ouelessebougou Alliance is determined to help limit the number of preventable diseases, especially among women and children.

Last year alone, the Alliance gave over 4,300 life saving vaccines to women and children in over 100 villages.

Our vaccines protect against 9 diseases and cost less than $15 to fully vaccinate one child.

As we enter the dry season, the Alliance continues to work in partnership with the government and village health workers to educate villagers on these diseases, the importance of vaccinations, and facilitating the vaccines.

We are proud of the villagers and the work they have been doing to ensure their families and villages are safe and healthy!

Below are two photos of young children who are already showing academic promise BEFORE they even enter Kindergarten.  Both of these children have older siblings in school and often tag along to learn.  One of the advantages their generation has is the Alliance's vaccination program.

We partner with the local hospital and the Ministry of Health to deliver lifesaving vaccines to rural villages. Our focus is on babies and childbearing women.  Ouelessebougou Alliance Health Agents coordinate the vaccine visits and keep track of each child's vaccination status.  These 2 children are current on vaccines which means they have a much higher chance to remain healthy, stay in school and learn.
