In Tanzania's Dodoma-Kongwa region, where access to healthcare services is extremely limited, a permanent health center has been established to provide services such as medical consultations, treatment, emergency observation, maternal and child healthcare, nutritional support, medication, vaccination, and laboratory services.
According to United Nations data, Tanzania ranks 15th among the least developed countries and faces serious poverty and infrastructure problems, especially in rural areas. A large portion of the population lives in villages where access to healthcare and education is extremely limited. In the Kongwa district of Dodoma, a Muslim community of 310,000 people resides, with the nearest health facility located four hours away by road.
Yeryuzu Doktorlar Dernegi (YYD) launched efforts to establish the first and only healthcare center in the Kongwa region in January 2025, aiming to improve the living conditions of the local population. In addition to providing medical services, the clinic aims to contribute to the local healthcare system by employing local healthcare workers, supplying necessary equipment, and offering training programs.
With the permanent clinic opening in July 2025, the organization seeks to deliver comprehensive healthcare services at full capacity. The project also aims to strengthen the region's ability to improve health conditions using local resources and capacities.
