Our wonderful volunteer Nia Ebrahim has recently completed her work in Ethiopia - to train local health workers. She travelled across three regions and trained many health workers in nutrition. This training helps them to support mothers who have babies with facial disability and illness. When a baby has a condition of the face it can be very difficult for them to take in the amount of food so that they can grow strong enough for treatment or surgery.
The training we give explains how important it is to make sure that the babies are fed enough of the right foods and gives simple tips to make the feeding easier. Because there is often stigma against families and children with disability this type of support is really important for the mothers too.
