Project of the Month Update: November 2012

By Mari Kuraishi | President, Founder of GlobalGiving

Dear Project of the Month Club,

We’re pleased to share with you that last month, you and 133 other Project of the Month Club members raised $4,661 for "Support 80 Orphans in South Africa," a project providing a safe place to live for orphans until they can be placed with loving foster families.

Rachel Mash, the leader of this project, wanted to let you know that your donations are going to help renovate the outdated, crumbling bathrooms that are currently in the childrens' home. Renovating the bathroom will give the kids living there a safe, hygienic place to get clean and ready for the day.

For November's Project of the Month, we're excited to share with you a project called "Change The Lives Of Troubled Youth & Shelter Dogs," led by the wonderful team at Project Pooch. Two of our team members recently visited this project, and they were so happy to see the work being done that there was no doubt about choosing our new Project of the Month. They help incarcerated youth learn key emotional skills, like patience, compassion and responsibility by introducing them to shelter pups who need homes. The youth go above and beyond what they ever thought possible by caring for, training, and finding adoptive homes for shelter dogs that might otherwise be euthanized.

Joan Dalton, Project Leader, wanted to share with you her message of thanks upon learning that she was selected to participate in the Project of the Month Club:
"We have a tremendous amount of gratitude knowing Project POOCH (Positive Opportunities - Obvious Change with Hounds) has been selected as the project of the month. Incarcerated youth change into contributing members of society by training and caring for unwanted shelter dogs. These dogs are then adopted by families."

Thank you so much for your support and compassion, and we hope that you are proud to know that you are offering an opportunity for both youth and shelter dogs to find hope and love within each other and for their futures. Your support is having an earth-changing impact around the world.

Warm regards,
Mari and the GlobalGiving Team
