Project of the Month Update: February 2013

By Mari Kuraishi | President, Founder of GlobalGiving

Dear Project of the Month Club,

We are so glad to let you know that last month, you and 147 other Project of the Month Club members raised $4,615 for "I Am A JewelGirl. What Kind of Girl Are You?", providing women economic stablility while still encouraging creativity and education.

Andrea Powell, Project Leader, shared with us the impact your gift will have:

"$4,000 will pay for 100 girl survivors at FAIR Girls to receive art therapy for six full months in our JewelGirls program!  This means 8 hours a week times 100 girls.  That is 8,000 hours!"

For February's Project of the Month, we're happy to tell you about a project called "Gift Learning Kits to Rural Girls" led by our partner, Educate Girls. Their project provides learning kits to students in primary grade levels. Each kit emphasizes the use of activities and games to teach English, Hindi and Math, and it provides every school with child-centric teaching material and training. Kits include a box of posters, playing cards, crayons and much more to make learning fun for children.

Project Leader, Nooreen Dossa, wanted to share with you her message of thanks upon learning that they were selected to participate in the Project of the Month Club:

"It is very encouraging that our project, 'Gift learning kits to rural girls,' has been selected as the project of the month. This support has given an impetus to our project as we promote child centric learning in rural schools.”

Thank you so much for your support and kindness this holiday season, and we hope that you are proud to know that you are empowering girls rescued from sex slavery to achieve their goals. Your support is having an earth-changing impact around the world.

Warm regards,
Mari and the GlobalGiving Team
