Promise126: 24/7 Care to Orphans in Haiti

Dear Project of the Month Club,

Happy (almost) fall! We're so thrilled to share with you the impact of your generous donations last month.

But first, we'd like to give a special shout-out to the 26 GlobalGivers who recently joined us. Welcome to the Club! It warms our heart to know we're able to connect you to our partners on the ground who are making lasting change in communities all over the globe.

In August, 161 of you gave a combined total of $4,604 to "Promise126: 24/7 Care to Orphans in Haiti," a project run by our partners at Mercy & Sharing. Here's a message from Louis Fawcett, one of the Project Leaders:

"Because of your generosity, Mercy & Sharing continues to provide shelter, food, round the clock care, education, medical care, and therapy to 126 orphans in Haiti, half of whom are disabled. We have started a new program that allows some of the disabled kids to go to school with the other students at the Learning Academy on the campus of Mercy & Sharing Village. It is amazing to see all of the kids learning, laughing, singing, and playing together!"

Wow, what an awesome update and powerful reminder of what is possible when we join together!

We're also excited to share that, this month, your donations will be combined to benefit a project called "Rescue Unwanted and Abandoned Companion Birds" run by our superstar partners at Mickaboo. Did you know that most animal shelters are designed to house cats and dogs but are unable to accept domesticated birds like parrots? Enter Mickaboo! They're a volunteer-run nonprofit in San Francisco that provides veterinary care for rescued birds in the area. Many of the birds come to them injured, abused, neglected, or very ill. Mickaboo give them the second chance they deserve.

Here's what Project Leader Pamela Lee had to say when we shared the good news that we selected her project for September:

"Mickaboo and its foster flock are honored to be selected as GlobalGiving's Project of the Month! Thank you - the help could not come at a better time! Summer is the season of greatest stress for a companion rescue bird."

Thank you for being part of the GlobalGiving community and reminding us all what good is possible when we come together. It's truly an honor to share this update with you, and we look forward to more good news in October!

Warmly,
Mari and the GlobalGiving Team
