Dear Project of the Month Club,

September has been quite the busy month for GlobalGiving. We welcomed 53 brand-new nonprofit partners in the last month's Open Challenge and launched the GlobalGiving for Global Goals initiative, which not only raises awareness for the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, but also features incredible projects that align with each goal. And that’s not all: we have a new earth-changing project to share with you this month!

But first, let's recap what you accomplished last month. In September, 215 of you gave a total of $6,991 to The Kasiisi Project’s Sanitary Pads Keep Ugandan Girls In School project. Your donations will help young women in Uganda become powerful peer leaders in their schools and expand their learning of reproductive health education.

This October, your monthly donation will support Puerta Abierta’s Give School to Abandoned Girls in Mexico project, which gives girls in Mexico the quality education and skills they need to become successful, financially independent adults. The school also helps abandoned girls overcome past abuse with psychosocial support.

Connie Duran Robertson, the president of Puerta Abierta, has this message for you:

“Thank you all for your generosity and for caring for our girls.  As soon as we got the news we began imagining the best way to apply this donation on building a brighter future for them. We all, staff and board members, are very grateful to hear the news and excited to have been selected as project of the month, this motivates us to work harder!”

So what can your donation do for Puerta Abierta? Connie had some pretty wonderful ideas:

Your generosity will support uniforms, school shoes, sports shoes, sports gear, books, and school materials for all the girls. We just received 2 new girls who need emotional and cognitive evaluations, emotional therapies, learning therapies, and medical evaluation so they can reach their full potential. We will be transparent and responsible with your donation, thanks again.

We here at GlobalGiving share Puerta Abierta’s appreciation of your continuous generosity. Your commitment to changing lives around the world is truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see the impact you'll make next month!

Warmly,

Mari + the GlobalGiving Team
