Thank you so much for donating to Project Harars project to help 20 Ethiopian children have their lives changed for the better.
Over the next month this money will be essential for our Cleft Lip and Palate Programme to take place, ensuring those most in need of treatment are able to receive it.
Pictured is one of our beneficiaires, Ramadan, who was helped by Project Harar at the very beginning of the charites existance in Ethiopia.
Ramadan had a hard time at school because of his cleft lip and palate. It was difficult for him to pronounce certain words and he was shy to ask questions in class. He even got into fights because classmates called him “you open mouthed”.
Fortunately, Project Harar found him and helped him get treatment (first for his lip and then for his palate). Afterwards, with renewed confidence,
He told us: “After the operation, they didn’t laugh at me anymore. Now, I am a handsome man without a deformity." That was all ten years ago. Since then, his confidence has increased further and he thrived in school. He has finished his degree in accounting and currently drives his own small taxi that are called Bajaj's.
The simple surgery that is performed significatly changes these childrens futures, as you can see from Ramadan's story. They find themseleves about to eat and speak properly and avoid the stigma from their community that comes from the little underdstanding on cleft conditions.
