Vet Clinic 2023 a Success!

By Katherine Gau | Director

Front Gate - can not avoid waiting
Front Gate - can not avoid waiting

Results of our Vet Clinic at Nkamanzi Primary on Sept 23 = 35 surgeries, 162 clinicals, and 2 additional taken to SAWS for a total of 199 dogs and cats given top quality veterinary services within rural realities!

Possible only with a lot of well placed human power:

1. Veterinary Association of Eswatini - 11 fully qualified licensed Swazi Vets, 3 Assistants and 4 attending Vet School

2. Waterfords Kamphala United World College Community Service - who help with the recovery room and will continue to share the Community Vet Clinic concept in their home countries of Canada, America, Zimbabwe, Germany, China, and South Africa

3. Dip Tank Officers from the area - who have long standing relationships with community participants

4. Swaziland Animal Welfare Society (SWAS) staff and volunteers - well experienced in each and every station

5. Vusumnotfo staff - community logistics, education, registration, problem solving and data collectors

----------------

We added a few new components this year - worked out so well we plan to include them again next year:

1. Newly qualified Dip Tank officers -  16 volunteers who were a great help across all stations; their involvement will also spread the animal care message as they will soon be posted to Dip Tanks throughout Eswatini

2. Primary students performing well in science and maths - taken on guided tour of each station, lots of questions!

3. Introduction of a "Swazi Dog Food" recipe - thanks to SAWS for coming up with a "home grown" option to dog food which is not readily available in rural shops and very expensive.

-----------------

Thank YOU - your donations are what made these results possible!
