Hi There!
We are so excited to share this latest update with you! After running many beach and township clean we felt we need to do more, we want to be innovative and we want to lead the way so we decided it was time to bring in the big ideas!
As a communtiy we ran a number of wworkshops to discuss what opportunities we have available to us within the community and as such we are excited to be lauching two new iniatives as part of this project.
Firstly we have worked with a community member that has been researching and learning about Bio Gas, he has come up with a system that we will begin to install in the local primary school and obtain a safety inspection before going live. This system we will have an organic waste bin in every classroom and the children will be put on a rota to take waste to the bio-gas system to dispose of it and at the same time learn about the system to inspire them to use waste to create cooking gas for the school so they can have a hot meal!
Secondly our community lead who is also a surf coach has decided to work with the local government and local organisations on building a sustainable long term strategy to deal with the wet waste from townships. Rivers and Oceans are flowing with waste and plastic because the townships are not equipped or educated to deal with waste and this needs to change. Our commnity leader has great ideas so watch this space
Thank You
