Emancipation of women often is linked with the income she can generate.
Menstruation limits possiblity of emancipation in rural area of Burkina Faso.
For a school girl who has no protection, she will miss school one week per month. This situation leads to bad school results and for a lot of girls stopping with schooling.
Uneducated women will do income generating activities in order to be more autonome. They will also have difficulties to develop them during their menstruation if they do have protection.
Protection for menstruation means more educated women which can then get a job for income and also better conditions for the women who have an income generating activity.
The disposable protections available in Burkina are of poor quality (can create infection), expensive for the rural women and not good for the environment.
The washable protection we propose can be used during 3 years, it is very confortable and discreet.
Watch the testimony of some women / girls in the video we have made for the 25 years of ASAP.
March 8th is international women day. Help us provide rural women proper menstruation protection to contribute to their emancipation, their comfort and peace of mind.
Thank you
