The Rotary Club Utrecht International with the Wilde Ganzen Foundation have funded a project called EmpowerHer in 5 primary schools in Burkina Faso.
The project consists of awareness meeting on hygiene and menstruation, distribution of soaps and washable protection for menstruation and the construction of 3 tiled latrines reserved for girls.
this project will help us distribute 300 kits of protection made in Burkina Faso under the guidance of the US association Days for Girls.
We realise that it is very difficult to have an exchange with the older girls of the primary school. Menstruation is taboo and girls do not talk to adults. The knowledge they have in biology is very limited. They have difficulty to understand our lecture. We still have to find a better way to communicate to them.
The fact that girls can attend school with peace of mind help them stay in class and concentrate on their studies.
Even so we are distributing protection kits to girls who have menstruation, new girls will need this type of protection also in the future. We need to be able to provide those kits continuously if we want to reach all the primary schools girls.
We need your help, may be you can also create an "EmpowerHer" campaign aroung you?
Thank you
