PROTECT NEGLECTED DISABLED CHILDREN FROM STARVING (#33104)
(A Project of Balajothi Centre for the Disabled Trust)
Report due on : Oct 22, 2018 - Report sent on : Oct 1, 2018
Total funds raised to date through this project : US $535
As we travel daily to many places in the course of our work, be it within the city or outside, we come across several underprivileged people. No, I am not talking about beggars (they have their own agenda and is not part of the group of disabled children). Also, we see many children who are from poor families and physically disabled. This group is able to fend for themselves and are able to get along in life, with a little support from their families and friends. I am not talking about this group either.
We seldom see the group of people who come under the category of intellectually challenged or mentally disabled, as they are called. Children with autism, mental retardation, multiple disabilities, learning disorders, etc come under this category. We have no clue as to why or what causes such disabilities excepting assumptions that such children are born as a result of trauma in the life of the mother while the child is still in the womb or due to medical condition which is not treated on time immediately after birth, or even genetic conditions due to close blood relationship among the parents. But these remain as probable causes only.
As a result of such a disability the affected child does not have a normal life. Such a child can never become a whole person in terms of growth, education, excel in activities or competitions. In other words such a child can never be a part of the society that we live in. They need help in all their activities right from Activities for Daily Living (ADL) as we commonly term them. Their brain can never develop fully and reach its full potential. As a result they need to be helped in all areas of activities all through their life, be it eating, grooming, washing or cleaning up. Imagine such a life and you will clearly understand why they need to be protected, not only from starving, but in every stage of their physical life. if such a child is left to live by itself he or she would perish in days, without such help. Balajothi Centre for the Disabled focuses on helping such children.
We thank GlobalGiving for its fund raising platform which enables donors like YOU from all corners of the globe, for helping the survival of such children. Thank you, donor, for your generous donation of $535 that has helped us to provide food, clothing and aid in their survival.
