Spreading Our Wings

Dear Friends,

Whether you have been with us for years or just recently found out about this project, your generosity is the foundation for our work, which has operated exclusively on donations. As a fellow donor, I am very excited to share the news that we have received a one-year grant to scale up this project, allowing us to spread our wings and soar into new and exciting areas.

Here are some of the things we'll be able to do in the coming year:

  • Expand the Grenadines Volunteer Patrol program with full-time time staff in the field training volunteers and park wardens.
  • Create the first-ever Community-based Conservation Management Plan for Grenadines Wildlife Refuges in cooperation with local governments.
  • Promote wildlife conservation in schools and communities through educational programs and media.
  • Place signs at key Wildlife Refuges which explain their protected status to visitors.
  • Develop a mobile data entry app for the Volunteer Patrol and supply them with phones and mobile data plans if they can't afford one.
  • Use drones to create accurate GIS maps of the islands, different habitat types, and where birds nest for the first comprehensive baseline data on these islands.

I hope you are proud to be a part of this project and the network of environmental stewards it empowers. While this grant will help to expand the project, it is just for one year. We intend to stay and protect Grenadines wildlife from poaching, fires, and other threats until there is a true refuge from these onslaughts. As part of our team, your ongoing support ensures the long-term security of this project and the majestic wildlife we work to protect.

Thank you for your contribution and support!
