To our supporters,
The Peruvian Amazon is one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, home to a vast array of plants, animals, and indigenous communities. However, increasing threats such as deforestation, illegal hunting, and climate change put this ecosystem at risk. Jaguars and other vital wildlife are in danger of extinction as their natural habitats rapidly disappear.Through our conservation project, we are conducting crucial research, engaging local communities, and raising awareness to protect this precious environment. With a total fundraising goal of £44,771, we currently have £17,894 remaining to reach our target. Thanks to the generous contributions of 618 donors, 4 monthly donors, and 13 dedicated fundraisers, we have made significant progress but there is still more to be done.
The Amazon rainforest is being lost at an alarming rate due to deforestation, human conflict, unethical tourism, poaching & illegal hunting and climate change. These challenges not only threaten wildlife but also the indigenous communities that rely on the Amazon for their survival. The loss of plant species could also mean losing potential medical cures hidden within the rainforest’s biodiversity.
Our work focuses on finding a solution through scientific research, community engagement, environmental education and policy advocacy. By collaborating with local partners, we are ensuring that conservation efforts are sustainable and driven by those directly impacted by environmental destruction.
Recent Project Updates
1. Camera Trap Success!
We recently installed new camera traps in key wildlife corridors, and our latest footage captured a mother jaguar with her cub! This is a promising sign that conservation efforts are helping jaguar populations persist in the region. The data collected will aid in tracking population health and movements.
2. Community Education Sessions Expanded
Our environmental education team successfully launched five new workshops in local schools, reaching over 300 students. These sessions teach the next generation about the importance of conservation and sustainable practices, helping to create long-term change.
3. Patrol Teams Stop Illegal Logging
With the help of local volunteers and community patrols, we were able to halt illegal logging activities in a protected area. This marks a significant victory in preserving key habitats for jaguars and other wildlife.
4. Reforestation Project Underway
We have started a new tree-planting initiative, aiming to restore over 500 hectares of degraded land. This effort will improve biodiversity, provide habitats for endangered species, and help mitigate the effects of climate change.
We need your support to continue our mission. Every donation contributes to research, education, and direct conservation efforts. Help us protect the Amazon before it's too late!
Thank you!
