Amplifying The Voice Of Tiger Conservation

By Eric Ian Chan | MYCAT Conservation Officer

Former US president and a champion of nature, Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must and we will.”

The last twelve months, and the preceding decade, we have strived to give the Malayan tiger and the endangered wildlife at the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor a voice. We kept to our message that the protection of these vulnerable creatures are paramount and how the participation in conservation by the members of the public is a linchpin in their survival. And you have heard us.

In 2023, we faced numerous challenges, from illegal forest incursions to theft of camera traps. However, we have managed to pivot and find ways to overcome these hardships, and redoubled our efforts to see that our message of hope and protection remains on course. Amidst these trying times, it is gratifying to see that our voice has been heard. You have generously donated to our course, and we have groups of individuals and companies joining us on CAT Walks. There has also been a lot of positive word-of-mouth from many of you and our voices have been amplified as a result.

Last year, many of you have come through for us by leaving us encouraging messages here after making a donation and also showing up for us on social media through comments and messages. These acts fuel us and they show us that you have not only heard us, but that you are speaking up for wildlife and their habitat. For this, we are eternally grateful.

We look forward to an exciting year this 2024 and your continued support to save the Malayan tiger and its habitat.
