Dear Donor,
El Shaddai’s programme to protect women from sex trafficking in Mumbai focuses on providing safety, care, protection, and opportunities for vulnerable women who may be at risk of exploitation and trafficking. The programme seeks to create a supportive environment where women can recover from difficult circumstances, rebuild their confidence, and move towards a safer and more independent future.
During the reporting period, El Shaddai continued to support vulnerable women through safe accommodation, nutritious meals, healthcare assistance, emotional support, counselling, guidance, and regular individual care. Creating a secure environment is an important first step in helping women feel protected, valued, and able to begin rebuilding their lives. The programme also focuses on prevention and awareness. Women are supported to understand the risks of trafficking, exploitation, unsafe employment, deceptive recruitment, and situations where they may be exposed to abuse or coercion.Through awareness and personal guidance, women are encouraged to recognise unsafe situations and seek help when necessary. Life skills and personal development activities help women strengthen their communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and confidence. These skills help women make informed choices, recognise potential risks, and develop greater independence.
El Shaddai also provides opportunities for education, vocational skills, and income-generation activities wherever appropriate. Developing practical skills and pathways towards safe employment can help reduce vulnerability to exploitation and give women greater control over their future. El Shaddai works with relevant community networks and support services when required, helping women access appropriate protection, healthcare, legal assistance, and other services. The programme places strong emphasis on treating every woman with dignity, respect, confidentiality, and compassion. Through this work, El Shaddai aims not only to protect women from trafficking but also to address some of the vulnerabilities that can place women at risk. By providing safety, awareness, skills, emotional support, and opportunities for independence, the programme helps women move from vulnerability towards greater security and hope.
Protecting women from sex trafficking is more than rescuing someone from immediate danger; it is about creating a pathway towards safety, dignity, independence, and a better future. Together, we can help create communities where vulnerable women are protected from exploitation, their rights are respected, and every woman has the opportunity to live a life of dignity and hope. Our goal is simple: to protect women from exploitation and help them rebuild their lives with dignity, hope, and a secure future.
With gratitude,
The El Shaddai Family!
