Pelorus Foundation are currently working together with our local grass-roots partner PCRF, the focus of our latest 2023 appeal, as they build their strategy and plans, including the creation of a pangolin rehabilitation centre. Through employing local community members to protecting pangolins, to forming one of the first comprehensive conservation-based research databases on the species, your donations are playing a critical role in fighting wildlife crime.

Some good news straight from the field from Kelsey, PCRF Founder:

A very lucky pangolin was recently confiscated alive from wildlife traffickers.  The local team dropped everything to rush to secure the pangolin and ensure she could be released straight away.

Following a vet examination with PCRF local veterinary partners prior to her release, her stomach was full from a recent meal, and she is a very healthy 10.25kg.

Based on her size and weight the team estimated her to be between 5 to 10 years old.

A great rescue and release, with thanks to the support of people like you who are helping to enable this vital work.
