Protecting pangolins in Southern Africa

I am delighted to share our 2024 Impact Report with you, highlighting the incredible difference your generosity has made over the past year. Thanks to your support, Pelorus Foundation's vital conservation efforts across Africa and Asia have continued to grow, protecting endangered wildlife, tackling illegal poaching, restoring ocean biodiversity, and strengthening our climate through innovative carbon removal projects.

In the attached report, you’ll find updates about our local project partners, including on page five, the inspiring work of Pangolin Research and Conservation Foundation (PCRF) in Namibia.

During the last year, your support has been more important than ever. Namibia experienced its worst drought in over a century, and pangolins, already one of the world’s most trafficked animals, have been especially hard hit. As pangolins venture further from their burrows in search of food, they became more vulnerable to poaching and dehydration.  However, thanks to local San community Pangolin Guardians who have been employed and trained by PCRF, and support from Namibian Enforcement  Officers, many of these pangolins have been rescued just in time.

Your recent donations have helped cover the rising costs of emergency vet care and the longer recovery times needed to nurse them back to health. Because of you, more rescued pangolins are surviving and being safely returned to the wild - a crucial lifeline for this critically endangered species.
