In 2019, a teacher began sexually abusing a 16 year-old student at school multiple times. School should be a safe haven for children, but for Melody*, it became the place where the offender abused her. Melody bravely shared her story with us this year and we applaud her for coming forward.
Even when the abuse stops, the pain can continue to follow survivors. This is why counseling and restoration is incredibly important. The HUG project was able to quickly connect Melody with a wonderful therapist. Melody learned the "butterfly hug" technique, which helps ground her when she starts to feel anxious. We know the road to healing can be difficult but we are confident that we can continue to help Melody throughout the restoration process.
Thank you for continuing to support the HUG project so that we can continue to help students like Melody and children throughout Thailand.
