1. Project Summary
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the province of South Kivu, over 1,000 people living in rural areas lack access to safe drinking water. This situation leads to the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid. The project aims to build sustainable water catchment systems, rehabilitate existing water points, and raise awareness among local populations about hygiene practices.
The goal is clear: to provide 1,000 people with reliable and sustainable access to clean water, while significantly reducing the prevalence of water-related diseases.
2. The Issue
Rural communities in South Kivu face a silent health crisis: the water consumed daily often comes from contaminated and poorly maintained sources. The lack of infrastructure, awareness, and resources to maintain water points only worsens the problem. As a result, preventable diseases are spreading and endangering the health of families, especially children.
