Context and Problem
In the rural areas of South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), more than 1,000 people suffer from a severe lack of access to clean drinking water. Existing water sources are often neglected, poorly maintained, and expose communities to dangerous waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid fever. The absence of adequate water supply infrastructure and poor hygiene practices further exacerbate the public health crisis in these areas.
