Hi
Thanks for your interest in the environmental conservation prpject we are implementing in Uganda.
This project has not yet taken off due to un availability of funds, but its aim is to address Pupil’s livelihood needs for income generation at schools, fuelwood for households, timber, fruit, fodder and other non-timber forest products while halting and reversing the trend of the forest loss and related environmental degradation in Mpigi district through promoting vegetable and fruit tree growing and agro-forestry systems.
Despite their potential as a food security, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods strategy, fruit growing and agroforestry practices are currently a relatively low-key economic activity in Uganda.
Moreover, although trees and forests are a critical resource for people’s livelihoods, environmental conservation and national economic development, tree and forest resources have significantly diminished in recent years due to an increase in the number of people depending on them for survival as well as a lack of alternatives.
"Will you support this programme and let it kick off?, do you? want to enable over 500 households have a sustainable environmental conservation strtegy? this is the right project to support" James, Mountains of Hope
