We have been working with Maya for several months. Safety planning with Maya to help her get her son Fenton out of Australia to the safety of the USA has been challenging.
Her abusive husband works remotely from home and constantly monitors her movements. He does not allow Fenton to leave the house with her alone. The control and the violence were untolerable and Maya feared for her life when he would threaten her and assault her.
An oportunity came along when her abusive husband's parents were visiting. In front of them, he acted like the perfect husband and father. Even encouraging her to take Fenton to the grocery store and to the park.
Maya had slowly been removing important documents and sentimental items from the home and a friend held them for safe keeping.
Finally, Maya and Fenton were able to board a plane and return home. They are staying with Maya's parents for now. They have a lot ahead of them but without donor's like you, Maya and Fenton's freedom would not have been possible.
Thank you for believing in our mission!
