In Nigeria, some pensioners have not received payment for 10-12 years, leaving thousands of retired workers and their families without access to healthcare. Many rely on herbal remedies, leading to preventable illness and death. This project provides a one-year health insurance plan, covering hospital visits, medications, and basic care.
Many Nigerian pensioners have gone unpaid for 10-12 years, leaving them unable to afford medical care. They often rely on herbs or home remedies, resulting in preventable illnesses and deaths. Without access to hospitals, medications, or basic health services, these retirees and their families face severe health risks. Aging pensioners are particularly vulnerable to chronic diseases, infections, and complications that could be avoided with proper healthcare coverage.
This project provides a one-year health insurance plan for 112 unpaid pensioners and their immediate families. Insurance covers hospital visits, lab tests, medications, and routine check-ups. Pensioners will receive proper diagnosis and treatment for chronic and acute conditions. Families also benefit from preventive care. By removing financial barriers, the project ensures that pensioners access safe, professional medical care instead of relying solely on herbs or traditional remedies.
With health insurance, pensioners and their families gain reliable access to medical care, reducing illness and deaths from preventable conditions. Improved health allows them to remain active in their communities and care for family members. Families experience reduced medical expenses and stress. Over the year, the project builds a safety net for vulnerable retirees, creating a model for future support programs and raising awareness of the urgent needs of unpaid pensioners in Nigeria.
