In the face of adversity, attitude, resources, and perspective can be the difference between struggle and survival. For the community of Mpigi in Uganda, Mountains of Hope is bringing hope and transformation through a project that supports HIV-infected individuals in need.
Thanks to the generous support of GlobalGiving's Community Aid Fund, we received a vital grant of $5,000 that has enabled us to revive and expand our program. Our project is making a tangible impact in the lives of those who can no longer access free antiretroviral therapy (ART) due to the introduction of fees in health facilities.
We've achieved notable success, with 86 clients achieving viral suppression, ensuring their health and well-being through effective adherence to ART. We've also revived 2 youth health clubs, empowering young people to take charge of their health and futures. Additionally, we're facilitating village savings and loans associations (VSLAs) by providing initial funding, retraining members in financial management, and digitalizing VSLAs for sustainability.
We've also trained 30 breastfeeding mothers in nutrition, equipping them with the knowledge to care for themselves and their babies. Furthermore, we've supported 8 female sex workers in starting small retail businesses, generating income and building economic stability.
We're grateful for GlobalGiving's partnership and support, which has enabled us to make a meaningful impact in our community. We're committed to continuing our work and look forward to sharing more stories of hope and transformation. Thank you, GlobalGiving, for believing in our mission and empowering us to transform lives. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
