Introduction
Through our upskilling initiatives across Africa, we identify individuals with the potential to become successful entrepreneurs and provide them with the necessary support network to launch their own businesses. This support includes funding and mentoring. High unemployment rates and restrictions on foreign manufacturing limit income-generating opportunities. Without financial stability, gaining access to the initial funds needed to start a business can be challenging, if not impossible.
Inequality in access to opportunities to break the cycle of poverty persists, and income inequality continues to rise as few people have access to capital to start a business. To address this, we have introduced a women’s empowerment programme as part of our initiatives. This programme is specifically designed to support women in overcoming these challenges and achieving their entrepreneurial goals.

Providing individuals with access to startup finance is a crucial step towards fostering community independence. This financial independence not only eliminates the need for external assistance but also enables them to afford education for their children, access healthcare, and participate in the broader economy.
Our initial support was extended to two local residents of a township who now successfully operate three food trucks and a restaurant. This initiative has also benefited 32 previously unemployed members of the neighbourhood.
In addition, we recently celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of our women’s empowerment programme. However, to continue this momentum and support these ambitious women in their entrepreneurial journey, we need additional funds. Each woman requires at least $200 to purchase new materials for their businesses.
