Mobile clinic update for displaced women

By Joy O. Etubi | Project Leader

Dear respected donors,

Thank you for standing with displaced women who have lost homes, husbands, and safety due to Boko Haram attacks, Fulani herder-farmer clashes, and widespread sexual violence. Your early support gives hope, even though funds received so far are still too low to start clinic deployment. We want to share a clear picture of the urgent need your gifts are meant to meet.

Today, women in camps across Benue, Abuja, and Nasarawa face harsh living conditions. Many arrive with untreated wounds, infections, and trauma from rape or beatings. In several camps, more than 60 percent of women have no access to medical checks, and mothers with high-risk pregnancies walk long distances on empty stomachs seeking help that rarely exists. Clinics destroyed during attacks leave thousands without a place to receive medicine, deliver babies, or speak with trained counselors.

The absence of mental health care is severe. Many women struggle with nightmares, panic attacks, and withdrawal after witnessing killings or losing children. Survivors of sexual violence often stay silent out of fear and stigma. Without care, these conditions worsen and affect their ability to care for their families.

Our goal is to run mobile clinics that bring treatment directly to them. These clinics are designed to provide screenings, medication, prenatal checks, safe-delivery kits, and trauma counseling. They also support rape survivors with emergency care that can prevent further harm.

We are grateful for every contribution already made. We will begin field activity as soon as funding reaches the level required to cover medical supplies, fuel, and trained staff. Your continued support moves us closer to reaching women who have waited far too long for basic care.

Warm regards,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
