For 7 years Mahavir Kmina Artificial Limb Center has been creating and providing prostheses for people who have lost their legs and cannot access or afford a regular solution. Our main concern is that our beneficiaries, who come from all the Colombian territory, can have comprehensive medical, social and psycological attention.
We only have one office in La Estrella, Antioquia, which sometimes means people have to travel hundreds of miles to get to our offices, and we often pay for the transportation and accomodation of our beneficiaries and accompany them through their psycological process, which makes our work even more special, because we get to know them and their stories, we get to know how the prostheses will change their lives.
Almost 10% of our beneficiaries in a year are children. Children and teens are special to us, not only because been able to stand, walk and play is fundamental for their growth and development, but because almost every six months, a child needs his or her prostheses to be changed -this occurs due to their rapid growth and the fact they can keep wearing the old prostheses to allow proper muscle development.
So far, we have raised USD $13,585, and with your help we have provided 30 prostheses. 30 lives that are now radically transform and are now on the way to develop their full potencial and shine like bright stars.
