Meet Matias a sweet and loving one year old from La Azulita, a neighbourhood in the small municipality of Copacabana. Cheerful and attentive, he loves to laugh and play, however he was born without one of his legs due to a rare genetic disease called agenesis, which cause an underdevelopment of the shinbone and fibula.
His disability has never stopped Matías from growing both physically and mentally, but as the time passes he had to get a prosthesis soon or his muscles wouldn't develop properly, and he may never be able to walk or hold himself upright. Worried, his mother sought the help of Mahavir Kmina, and thanks to your generosity we could provide him with a prosthesis, so he can grow happy and healthy.
It has not been an easy road for the child’s familty. However, thanks to your generosity, this month Matías received his prosthetic leg, which will help him to perform the activities of any child his age.
According to his mother he is learning how to walk and even run a litlle bit, and he loves to chase her around the house! It is precisely this kind of stories that make us so grateful for your help. Your generous donations have helped us give huge and significant opportunities to children in need around the country.
Matías is the living proof that we can help create new and brighter futures for children with physical disabilities, your solidarity inspires us to work harder every day.
So on behalf of Matias, his family and all the Mahavir Kmina team, Thank you for your support!
