WATER

By R.BALU | DIRECTOR

  • We all know water is precious. We also know that we are underestimating its criticality for survival of the planet itself, growth and well being of humans, animals, plants, industry etc. We should be deeply concerned with its wasteful usage, inefficient use and its contamination .As we all know the water is one of the main sources of substance that is occurring naturally and it is more helpful for the survival of the human being. It is very much necessary to go for the rain water harvestingsince rain is the first and best source to bring water to the underground. There are also many aspects related to water because the water has become one of the day to day commodities which we are in search for. There is a situation in which we will not get necessary water for day to day life and even for the drinking purpose. This particular situation is known as Drinking water scarcity in Tiruvannamalaiis one of the Districts in Tamilnaduthat is rich in all the type of resources and in the same way the water is also one of the most important resources that are available to all the   10 village people to great extent. But in some areas because of many reasons the water is not available. There will also be scarcity in such a manner that the Drinking will be spoiled because of the water scarcity.

BOSS held consultations with Stakeholders / Representative groups of the people in the 10 Dalit villages and this project is the result of such consultations. The details of the project are:

One bore well with hand pump has to be installed in each of the 10 project villages with protective platform around the bore wells.

3 local dowsers will identify the sites who uses a stick of the Neem tree and wrist watch to identify the water source

The sites chosen would be in public places easily accessible to the beneficiary communities and they would have the necessary sanction from the local village panchayat administration.

The project shall be carried with people’s participation and their contribution in the form of manual labor.

After installation the bore wells would be handed over to the local panchayat administration that would undertake repair works / changing of worn out parts as and when needed. An undertaking to this effect would be obtained from the local panchayat presidents of the 10 project villages.
