PROJECT REPORT: THE IMPACT OF BOOSTER GRANTS FOR VULNERABLE FAMILIES
Project Name: Empowering Vulnerable Families in Mpigi District
Introduction
Our project aims to transform the lives of 500 vulnerable families in Mpigi District, Central Uganda, by providing booster grants and business skills training. The project targets female-headed households and female sex workers who face significant challenges in accessing financial services.
Progress Update
We have monitored 85 households that received booster grants last year. The results are promising:
- 76 households (89%) are doing well, with improved ability to:
- Send children to school
- Take care of their families' basic needs
- 9 households (11%) faced challenges and were reassessed. To support their recovery, we will provide:
- Additional financial training to enhance their business management skills
- Additional capital to help them overcome current difficulties
Project Impact
The booster grants of $300 have been instrumental in empowering vulnerable families. Beyond financial aid, our quarterly business skills training equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable economic growth.
Key Achievements
- Improved livelihoods for 76 households
- Enhanced business management skills through quarterly training
- Identification of challenges and development of targeted support strategies for struggling households
Lessons Learned
- The booster grants have been effective in supporting vulnerable families
- Ongoing monitoring and support are crucial for ensuring long-term success
- Additional training and capital can help households overcome challenges and achieve sustainability
Next Steps
- Continue monitoring and supporting the 85 households
- Expand the project to reach the remaining 415 families, with a focus on:
- Providing booster grants and business skills training
- Identifying and addressing challenges through targeted support
By providing crucial financial support and business skills training, we are empowering vulnerable families in Mpigi District to build a more sustainable future. Your continued support will help us achieve our goal of transforming the lives of 500 families.
