Global Entrepreneurship

Dear Friends,

When the Palmyra-Haiti Technology Project began a number of years ago, we were hopeful of its impact but had no idea what success stories would emerge. Soon after the 2010 earthquake near Port au Prince, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter and now Reuters Technology Reporter, Deborah Todd, came to Haiti to look for technology surfacing in the post-earthquake Haiti. She interviewed Servius who is one of the students that has benefited from the technology your support provides. Servius has fully immersed himself in learning computer programing, other aspects of technology, and supporting like-minded peers. Ms. Todd wrote that Servius was one of Haiti’s great post-earthquake success stories.

The benefits of a digitally connected Haiti are great, as identified in the aggregated research provided by Bjorn, director of the Copenhagen Consensus think tank (see link below.) We are proud that our small, student driven project has been on the cutting edge spirit of Bjorn’s article.

More living proof of the potential of a digitally connected Haiti can be found in our project’s Haitian student leader, Acerneau. Like Servius, Acerneau has taken to technology in a big way. He has learned digital design, videography, digital photography, digital music, web design, etc. from having access to our project’s technology.  Acerneau has the knowledge and the drive to go far. Acerneau is a bright example of the entrepreneurship highlighted in the online publicationInc. (see link below) Acerneau has created a graphic design business called Youngaurelus.  (see link below) He is a talented, tech savvy, hardworking, entrepreneur who is tireless in promoting our project and the High Hopes for Haiti Schools. Acerneau is an example of the success of our collective efforts in providing technology education to motivated, hardworking Haitian youth. Thank you for your continued support!
