Bringing Chages

By Arpi Hambaryan | PR Manager

“My name is Valentina and I am 19 years old. I am a student at Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan
State Medical University. When I started coming to Nor Luyce, this was one of the best steps that I have taken in my life. Through attending Nor Luyce, I realized what I want in life, and what flaws and positive attributes I have, which I had never put much thought into. My tuition fee was paid for me on account of the good progress I had made in Nor Luyce, which has been very important for me. The most important thing is to believe in one own strength, to trust one ability and skills, and to be persistent in the pursuit of learning. This is my new motto. With the skills and abilities that Nor Luyce has given me, I am sure that my path to becoming a doctor will be easier. I thank Nor Luyce for accepting me with a warm embrace and equipping me with fundamental life skills. And I have learned one more important thing here: " Always move forward with your dream as your purpose.” Mentee Valentina.

The previous quarter marked one of the most fulfilling and successful periods of the year for us. During this time, our dedicated mentors and mentees invested 184 hours into individual and 32 hours of group meetings. These sessions played a pivotal role in the personal development of the teenage girls, fostering self-awareness, and self-discovery, and emphasizing their unique strengths and areas for improvement, all under the expert guidance of their mentors. The mentees were also provided with 8 classes of computer skills thus learning Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint Presentation editors. As the quarter drew to a close, our mentors and mentees successfully completed the program. In a heartfelt ceremony, mentors were awarded certificates recognizing their outstanding 11-month commitment, while mentees were presented with certificates acknowledging their participation in the computer course.

Excitingly, the recruitment of new-generation mentors and mentees commenced. A 6-hour group meeting provided mentees with a warm welcome, while mentors dove into 20 hours of pre-mentoring workshops. This intensive training equipped them with crucial skills essential for their roles as mentors.

The mentees in the Skill-Building phase continued to make significant progress. Over the past few months, they engaged in pivotal career planning meetings, arming themselves with new knowledge and skills. These sessions covered essential topics such as job application procedures and interview techniques. Additionally, our mentees had the privilege of meeting with a lawyer, a seasoned entrepreneur, and a representative from an employment agency. These enlightening discussions delved into the intricacies of labor codes, initial steps in entrepreneurship, the challenges and strategies for overcoming them, and a comprehensive overview of the most sought-after professions in RA, among other valuable insights.

Notably, our mentees from the Higher Education stage found renewed motivation after engaging with two accomplished artists in RA. Throughout the quarter, mentees in both the Skill-Building and Higher Education phases received their career brochures and graduation certificates, marking significant milestones in their educational journeys.
It's worth celebrating the collaborative spirit of our community, as more than 90 mentors and over 160 mentees actively participated in all of these enriching sessions together.
