As one of our mentees said: "During these months, I have loved Nor Luyce very much, it has become a place very close to my heart, everything in this center is going on in a quiet, beautiful, and, most importantly, efficient manner, experience working with teenagers, the opportunity to participate in various courses, including mentoring training, correct behavior, formation of self-esteem, ability to listen actively. The acquired skills are managing emotions, overcoming fear, improving learning, and identifying strengths and weaknesses. Everything that I could not learn on my own gave me a Nor Luyce, for which I am grateful to the staff of Nor Luyce."
The past two months have been highly productive for Nor Luyce. In addition to concluding the program year, the girls in the Mentoring phase had the opportunity to participate in computer courses. During these sessions, the mentees learned to use Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint, with the total duration of the classes being 24 hours. Upon completion, the mentees received certificates recognizing their participation in the computer training.
Nor Luyce also welcomed 48 new volunteer mentors and 51 mentees. These adolescent girls, with the support of their mentors, will embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, identifying their strengths and weaknesses along the way.
As one of our mentors: Nyura Muradyan, shares: "My name is Nyura Muradyan. After learning about Nor Luyce, I immediately signed up as a volunteer. I had high expectations for the organization, and I can confidently say that all of them were met.
Nor Luyce provides an incredible opportunity to support teenagers in exploring answers to the questions that concern them and in overcoming fears and stress. We also assist them with career choices, which is vital at this stage of their lives. Equally important is helping them achieve mental maturity, which we, as volunteers, strive to facilitate through our training and acquired knowledge. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a mentor and to help a wonderful young girl."
During this period, we conducted 12 pre-mentoring workshops for the mentors. These trainings provided a clearer understanding of their roles and equipped them with new skills for working with teenagers. The mentors gained substantial knowledge, which they can confidently apply throughout the upcoming 11 months.
In parallel, the mentees participated in group meetings, which allowed both mentors and mentees to get to know each other better. This interaction lays a strong foundation for forming effective mentor-mentee pairs in the future.
In June, the mentees in the Higher Education phase had educational meetings with accomplished professionals from three various fields in Armenia. These sessions focused on the challenges faced in their respective career paths and the strategies to overcome them. The mentees also had the chance to ask pressing questions and receive detailed answers, helping them to make more informed professional decisions.
Overall, more than 45 mentors and over 160 mentees participated in these valuable meetings and activities.
