“Each phase at Nor luyce has given me new skills, knowledge, and achievements. Seven years ago, when I first became a mentee, I could not have imagined that one day I would be part of the staff. Now I feel even more committed to being responsible and proactive so that future Nor Luyce girls grow into full-fledged members of society. I am grateful for all the doors that Nor Luyce has opened for me.”
- Aida V.
Aida’s story captures the heartbeat of Nor Luyce, the first mentoring center in Armenia and a place where girls grow, return, and lead. The first quarter of our program year has been rich with impact, growth, and community strength.
Over just three months, our team completed 1,312 hours of individual mentoring sessions - one of the most powerful elements of the Nor Luyce model.
What makes Nor Luyce truly unique is its intergenerational cycle of empowerment. Many of our mentees return years later as mentors, volunteers, and even staff members - like Aida. Their return strengthens our organizational capacity and creates a living, evolving platform for personal and professional development.
This cycle is one of our proudest achievements: proof that consistent, compassionate mentoring can change the direction of a young girl’s life - and empower her to uplift others in return.
What Happens in Mentoring?
Each mentor-mentee meeting is designed to help girls:
Mentors use evidence-based tools, including the Taylor, Sorensen, and Rosenberg psychological assessments, to understand each girl’s emotional intelligence, communication difficulties, anxiety levels, and overall needs. These data-driven insights help us track growth and ensure the program remains effective and responsive.
And the change is visible. Girls begin to express themselves more confidently, face fears with courage, and take responsibility for their choices - transformations we witness with pride every day.
Supporting Our Mentors
To ensure the highest quality of support, mentors undergo 15 initial and 15 ongoing trainings throughout the year. This quarter alone, they completed 12 hours of professional training, in addition to receiving regular individual and group supervision. This structure ensures guided, intentional, and high-quality mentorship.
Growing Together
Our girls also participated in 4 group meetings and 3 program-wide meetings this quarter - spaces where they learn, connect, and support one another.
At Nor Luyce, we don’t just help teenage girls find their voice - we create pathways for them to discover who they are, grow professionally, gain leadership experience, and give back to their community.
Thank you for contributing to this cycle of growth, transformation, and hope. Your support makes stories like Aida’s possible.
