More medical facilities and doctors continue to join the “Book on Prescription” program. This initiative, made possible through the generosity of our supporters, connects early childhood literacy with preventive healthcare by equipping doctors with books for their youngest patients. Through this effort, medical professionals receive curated sets of children’s books and encourage parents to read with their children every day.

The program contributes to children’s overall well-being, fostering both emotional and cognitive development while helping to reduce educational disparities by ensuring access to books from an early age.

We also had the opportunity to present the foundations of the “Book on Prescription” program at a nationwide pediatric conference. The initiative attracted significant interest among healthcare professionals, leading to the enrollment of 72 additional medical facilities in the program. Over the past four months, we have distributed nearly 7,000 books to young children across Poland, further expanding the reach and impact of the initiative.

One of the facilities that joined the program this year is a hospital in Puck. After becoming part of the initiative, they shared the following message on their Facebook profile:
Beautiful books and educational materials from the "Book on Prescription" program have arrived at our hospital. From now on, our youngest patients receive additional, truly special support in their recovery.
Even just 15 minutes of reading a day is a remedy that simply cannot be overdosed! We are delighted to combine medicine with such thoughtful prevention.

Thanks to donor support, the practice of shared reading is becoming a natural element of pediatric care. This is particularly impactful for families facing greater challenges, including refugees, low-income households, and those living in smaller communities. Beyond promoting literacy, the program helps build stronger emotional bonds and enhances psychological resilience within families.

We remain dedicated to growing the program so that every participating doctor can provide books to young patients. Achieving this goal depends on the continued trust, commitment, and generosity of our donors. Together, we can help ensure that every child in Poland has an equal opportunity for a strong start in life through the power of reading.
