Hello Project supporters-
Have you ever head the proverb: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"?
This generally means that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring. It is usually used to explain or justify the need for children to have adequate playtime.
When I was growing up, I loved to quote this as a justification for more playtime. While I was a good student, I also loved to play Table Tennis (also known as Ping Pong) and "video games". This included original arcade games back in the day like Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and Pole Position. Those games were pretty rudimentary compared to today's games.
In Ghana, we are ensuring that the kids have adequate recreation time. We hold bi-weekly club meetings where kids from 2-17 are able to read storybooks, learn and play games. The club meetings serve the dual purpose of play and learning. This helps ensure that the kids grow up wholesome and balanced.
The photos show the kids at the club and also playing on a bouncy castle.
Your support is helping to ensure that the kids in Ghana grow up to be well-rounded and balanced children. We are helping to position them to become great leaders in the future.
Do you have any warm memories stories about your playtime as a kid? We would love to hear them. Feel free to send us an email message at globalgiving@developafrica.org.
With deep appreciation
Sylvester and the Develop Africa Team
