Give a Dog a Bone week is an annual event that is a nationwide effort to raise awareness and help local communities across the U.S. raise donations of pet food and supplies for pets of the houseless population.
This past August was our 13th year hosting. Each year we get photos of donation sites that push the envelope on creativity and bring in more donations the longer they participate. We hope you enjoy their photos.

In October, a local car dealership hosted a fun, Fill-A-Truck pet food drive. They have one of the trucks on their showroom floor as the designated truckbed to collect community donations. It is fun to watch their progress throughout the month. This is an event we look forward to each year. We would love to collaborate with more dealerships and see this replicated in many cities across the US.
Over 4,500 lbs of pet food were donated between these two annual events. An amazing contribution but the need is greater than ever. Our Pet Food Providers are still in desperate need as we head into these colder months. Calls from individuals and agencies come in daily searching for pet food.
When we are able to, we will drop ship pet food to Pet Food Providers in our network when they are in need. Your donations help us to continue this important work of feeding pets so they aren't being fed unhealthy people food that their owners willingly share with them because it is all they have.
If you would like more information on hosting a pet food drive as an individual, school, professional organization or business, email us at info@petsofthehomeless.org.
