By Eimi Olson | Project Leader
Abandoned, orphaned, and destitute, most of the children in NYF’s programs are recovering from trauma. Staff at Ankur Counseling Center provides essential support for these children, including those at Olgapuri Children’s Village.
Over the past three months, Ankur counselors visited Olgapuri regularly to run a variety of sessions. While sessions for the younger children included age-appropriate games and activities like expressive art therapy and story-telling, older students attended workshops focused on building important life skills — like setting appropriate goals, communicating effectively, and making difficult decisions. For example, in the test-taking lesson, students learned how to handle exam anxiety, tackle time management, and practice relaxation techniques.
Some of these children have endured more trauma and suffering at an early age than most people experience in a lifetime. Psychological therapy helps them heal. Your continued support ensures that the children in our care are leading happy and healthy lives!
We’re so thankful for your support.
