Your support helped us to train 40 adolescents in peer counseling!

By Nepal Youth Foundation | Project Leader

From all of us at the Nepal Youth Foundation, thank you so much for your generous gifts in support of this project. Today, we are thrilled to not only provide a brief update on the impact of your support – but also share that it’s #GivingTuesday!

We hope you’ll help us #MoveAMillion by making a generous contribution to this project. Your donation will help our passionate team at Ankur Counseling Center provide specialized mental health support for the children and youth in our care – and also lead empowerment workshops and peer counseling training sessions to help advance mental health support in general for youth in Nepal.

For example, earlier this year, a youth organization in Nepal approached Ankur Counseling Center and requested training and facilitation support to conduct a peer counseling program. Over the course of six days, NYF trained a total of 40 adolescents in peer counseling, creating and executing support group meetings, and record keeping and documentation.

As you can see below, participant feedback showed that the training had been incredibly productive and successful:

  • "I think communication was the most important topic for me because effective communication skill is something that everyone should have as it can build strong bonding and remove misunderstandings and thus make our lives easy."
  • "Thank you for your time for us. I liked all the things and knowledge you have given to us."
  • "I plan to use this peer counseling skill and knowledge in making support group, sharing problems, and building good relationship between client and me.”

We’re so thankful to you for making work like this possible.

This GivingTuesday, GlobalGiving has prepared $1.2 million in Incentive Funds — meaning eligible gifts (up to $2,500 per unique donor per organization) will count towards earning a portion of that fund.

Please consider making a #GivingTuesday gift to NYF today. Thank you and Dhanyabad!
