Our psychological counselors at Ankur Center not only work directly with children and teens but also train other professionals who work with young people.
These trainings help spread good practices in a country where psychological counseling is still in its infancy. Ankur has become a pioneer in psychological therapy for disadvantaged and emotionally traumatized children in Nepal. The professional Ankur staff members are schooled in a variety of therapeutic interventions as well as in individual and group counseling. This counseling is enabling children who have endured unimaginable hardships at very young ages, most of whom depend on scholarships from NYF, to fulfill their potential.
Counselors recently conducted three-day training called “Understanding and Dealing with Children and Adolescents” for public school teachers and led a group of social workers through a session on HIV-AIDS. At a Psychological Youth Fair, counselors demonstrated techniques such as sand play and passed along information on importance of psychological health.
Ankur staff does these trainings in addition to the hundreds of individual and group counseling sessions that they conduct every year with children in Nepal Youth Foundation’s programs.
Your support helps bring emotional health to children who have endured terrible trauma.
Thank you and dhanyabad!
