The Children of Heroes Charity Fund supports families in their darkest times, offering critical psychological aid to both children and their mothers. One such family is Viktoriya and her daughters, Olena and Iryna, from Borodyanka, Kyiv region.
After enduring occupation and the loss of her husband, who went missing while defending Ukraine, Viktoriya was consumed by despair. Unable to eat, sleep, or connect with her daughters, she was in urgent need of help. Thanks to therapy provided by our psychologist, Viktoriya began to heal, regaining her strength and rebuilding her bond with her daughters. This support was transformative, allowing her to be present for her family once again.
Viktoriya’s daughters also flourished with our assistance. Iryna, driven and focused, achieved her dream of studying dentistry at Poltava Medical University, supported by a laptop from the Fund. Fourteen-year-old Olena found joy and self-expression at our camps, discovering her artistic talents and forming new friendships. These experiences helped the girls regain a sense of normalcy and hope.
Holistic support, including food kits, stationery, and psychiatric consultations for Viktoriya, further eased the family’s burdens. Viktoriya now envisions a brighter future, a testament to the power of psychological and material aid.
This story underscores the importance of supporting mothers alongside their children. By helping mothers heal, we enable them to provide the love and stability their children need to thrive.
