Choose Adoption
By Barbara Cartwright - CEO
Thank you for your support! With your financial contributions we are able to continue in the fight against puppy mills. Each year we see more and more heart breaking stories in the media about sick and dying animals purchased on-line by unwitting Canadians. With your support and through our Finding Fido program we continue to educate Canadians on how to avoid supporting puppy mills when looking to bring a new companion into their families. We continue to promote our Choose Adoption program which is a national campaign is focused on reducing the demand for animals inhumanely raised in puppy mills by encouraging everyone to choose adopting from a shelter. The identifying marker of this campaign is a branded teal ribbon, that elevates the concept of pet adoption by identifying an animal and/or its human companion as being associated with the pet adoption community.
But we also have to address the root cause which is a lack of information on the scope and scale of the underground puppy mill industry in Canada. In order to create a trustworthy source of information that will guide innovative solutions, the CFHS launched a Puppy Mill Task Force, in 2015, that will gather evidence and expert advice about the nefarious realities of puppy mills and irresponsible breeding. Together with its members, other organizations and you, the CFHS will use the evidence to advocate for solutions, such as stronger legal tools.
Thank you again for your passion and support. For more information about Finding Fido and the Choose Adoption campaign, visit: www.FindingFido.ca
