Hi All,
Since COVID it is shocking that we have seen figures increase for child marriages in Zimbabwe, although we are upset as a team by this because we had made so much progress pre lock-down we are now coming at this issue with experience. We know the reason comes down to finance and poverty and using arrange marriages families often get financial support therefore we need to go back to the start where we begin working with the community leaders, influencers alongside the young children themseleves to start talking and engaging everyone involved so that we can discuss alternative routes for funding and educate them on the pysho-impact this has on the children involved.
In 2021 we stopped 124 children getting married under the age of 15, we was making prea progress with weekly community groups and events but we got stopped in our track and now we must start again
At least we know we can do it!
Thank You
Martha
