Dear friends, donors, and interested people,
Child marriage is an epidemic across Africa, significantly reducing the ability of women to have equal standing to men given that they become stuck as homemakers and unable to access the career opportunities that men can.
There are many ways to deal with this issue, one is personal support such as counselling and psychosocial mental health support. Another, more wide -reaching method is to raise awareness publicly. Our partner who tackles the issue of child marriage is taking this route by launching an event which includes educational talks with research, speeches, poetry and literature reading as well as discussions on the topic. It is important to use this 2-prongued approach in order to fight the root cause of the issue rather than simply dealing with problems as they arise.
