How an Author's Book Campaign Benefited Vaga Lume
Girl attended by one of Vaga Lume's libraries
Vaga Lume does admirable work empowering kids through education in remote corners of Brazil's Amazon region. Our focus on enriching rural kids with knowledge in isolated communities resonated profoundly with one author half a world away - ultimately transforming lives on both ends.
When India-born London resident Manoj Gupta prepared to launch his new book The Consciouspreneur this fall, he sought a charitable initiative to align with its message of purpose beyond profit. His book chronicles an entrepreneur's quest to balance ambition and mindfulness by uplifting people worldwide.
Searching for the right fit charity partner, Manoj discovered our Vaga Lume Association and its mission of furthering literacy and learning in rural villages in the Amazonas. Our efforts to illuminate young minds without access struck a chord. Alongside the guidance of his crowdfunding mentor Ritesh S. Nigam, Manoj decided to harness the momentum of his book launch to benefit Vaga Lume and raise both awareness as well as funds.
Manoj graciously harnessed the momentum of his book launch to raise over £4,500, a part of which will go for Vaga Lume projects. The Consciouspreneur Charity Campaign, was organized by online fundraising platforms GlobalGiving and Crowdfunder UK. His empathy and advocacy overseas created a ripple effect - changing futures for several hundreds of Brazilian students.
But more than the funds raised, this gesture reminded us that human compassion transcends all boundaries. Though Manoj resides far from the remote Amazon communities his campaign benefited, he used creativity, consciousness and the reach of his words to uplift youth on the other side of the Atlantic.
His selfless choice to make struggling students the face of his book shows how our shared humanity can empower and connect us across the globe. And how nobility often arises when we least expect. Our deepest thanks, Manoj!
