ECHO Autism Jamaica: Educators 2026 – Off to a Strong Start
We are excited to share that the 2026 cycle of ECHO Autism Jamaica: Educators is officially underway, and we are off to a strong and promising start. Building on the success of last year’s pilot, which demonstrated meaningful impact on educators’ confidence and skills, we received an overwhelming response from participants eager to continue their learning journey. This year’s program continues to bring together an interdisciplinary hub team of experts including occupational therapy, psychology, education, and family advocacy to support general education teachers in delivering evidence-based strategies for children with autism in inclusive classrooms .
Since our last report, we have successfully launched the new cohort, finalized curriculum topics, and initiated bi-monthly interactive sessions focused on practical strategies such as behavior management, communication, and classroom inclusion. Educators are actively engaging in case-based discussions and receiving mentorship from specialists, strengthening their ability to support students ages 3–8 in real-world classroom settings. The program remains 100% voluntary, reflecting the strong commitment of Jamaican educators to improving outcomes for children with autism.
In addition, we are currently analyzing data from our 2025 pilot program, including pre-, mid-, and post-evaluation surveys, session feedback, and case trends. Early findings highlight increased educator self-efficacy and growing use of evidence-based practices. We are in the process of preparing these results for dissemination and future grant funding opportunities, ensuring sustainability and expansion of this impactful initiative.
We are grateful for the continued support of our partners and donors through GlobalGiving, which makes this work possible. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive educational system for children with autism in Jamaica.
